Air Nigeria restarts London route

By Kenneth Ehigiator

Air Nigeria is to restart its London Gatwick operations in September as part of its route expansion programme.

Prior to the acquisition of Virgin Nigeria Airways by Air Nigeria, the airline had about three years ago, suspended operations on the route due to operational difficulties.

But Chief Executive Officer of Air Nigeria, Kinfe Kahssaye, said weekend that the airline was now prepared to return to the route, adding that it would deploy one of the three Airbus A340-300 planes it was making efforts to acquire, for the operation.

He said: “The imminent return of the airline on the long haul routes is part of the positive outcome of the ongoing turn-around initiatives and commitment of chairman of the airline, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, towards building a world class airline in Nigeria.

“It is also a demonstration of the confidence of the board of the airline.”
