Aelex holds 7th Annual Lecture July 7

The 7th Aelex Annual Lecture scheduled to hold on July 7,2011, with the titled “Corruption: The Thief in Broad Daylight,” will hold at MUSON Centre, Lagos. The key note address will be delivered by Kenyan anti-corruption advocate, John Gothingo.

Mr. Gothingo, is an economist and a former Kenyan editorialist. He wrote extensively for the Nairobi-based magazine “the East African” attacking corruption in the Kenyan society under the Moi regime.

He was a correspondent for “The Economist” and other publications. He acted as a Director of Transparency International-Berlin and in Kenya. He also investigated bribery and fraud in Kenya in official governmental position, under the presidency of Mwai Kibaki. Returning to Kenya from his exile to the UK in 2008, he founded an organisation called “The Inuka Kenya Trust”, a grassroots advocacy group aimed at creating an informed citizenry and continues with his fight against corruption.

Given, the topic of the lecture “Corruption: The Thief in Broad Daylight” and Mr. Gothingo stellar attitude in fighting corruption within and outside the Kenyan government, it is hoped that sharing his experience will be insightful and motivational for the attendees. Recently, New African Magazine in its June 2011 issue lists Mr. Gothingo as one of Africa’s 100 most influential people.

Other distinguished speakers expected at the event are Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, Retired Justice of the Supreme Court as the Chairman and other discussants, Ms. Alexandra Wrage, President Trace International, Mr. Bismark Rewane, Managing Director, Financial Derivatives Company Limited and Mr. Simon Kolawole, Editor and Divisional Director, ThisDay Newspapers.
