The Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN has finally picked Rep Femi Gbajabiamila who represents Surulere 1 in Lagos State as the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.
AC N also endorsed Rep Samson Osagie who represents Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in Edo State as House of Representatives’ Minority Whip.
In a letter dated June 13 and titled: “House Minority Leadership”, addressed to the House Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ACN wrote:
“I write to inform you sir, that the members of our party caucus in the House of Representatives held a meeting and concluded on the subject of this letter.
“We wish to inform you that we have no objection to their decisions on this matter and hereby also wish to inform you and Honourable members of the House of Representatives in the 7th National Assembly, that we shall henceforth recognize Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, representing Surulere 1 in Lagos State and Honourable Samson Osagie representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in Edo State as the House Minority Leader and House Minority Whip Respectively”
Gbajabiamila was the Minority Leader of the 6th House of Representatives.
He was elected into that office after the resignation of his predecessor, Mohammad Alli Ndume who defected from the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The ACN Caucus of the House of Representatives had after electing Gbajabiamila and Osagie written to ask the party national leadership to endorse its decision.
That letter of the caucus which was addressed to the Party’s National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande and dated June 9th, 2011, was signed by 50 members of the caucus.
