UGHELLI – MR Samuel Mariere, House of Assembly candidate of the United Democratic Party, UDP, in Ughelli North constituency 1, Delta State, has clinched the State House of Assembly seat to represent the constituency in the House.
Declaring the results of the rerun election held on Saturday, returning officer of the election, Mr Datuowei Faha, said Mr Samuel Mariere scored a total of 9,555 votes to clinch the seat, while the second runner up, Mr Friday Onodjae of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and incumbent representative of the constituency in the House, scored a total 7,154 votes.
According to Faha, Mr Charles Oniyere of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, came third with a total of 3,817, adding that Mr Christopher Obiuwevbi, Accord party, came forth with a total of 3,274 votes, while Mr John Idogu of the PDP came far fifth with a total votes of 3,080.
