Poly students protest in Delta

Students of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara weekend broke loose from what they called “silence over poor learning condition”, throwing law and order to the winds, sending people scampering for safety, unleashing mayhem on passers-by, lecturers, non-academic staff and the Rector, Professor Temi Akporonor.

The students numbering over 3000, led by their president, Edosovba Happy, secretary, Oteheri Oghenekevwe, senate president, Imene Marvis and speaker, Abalara Israel, forced the security men to flee their duty posts as they locked the main gate, encircled the staff and the rector of the institution and had them severely beaten up.

As at the time of filing this report, the rector of the polytechnic, Professor Temi Akporonor who escaped been lynched by the whiskers in the hands of the students, was taking shelter in an undisclosed location.

In an earlier letter addressed to the school authority through the dean, students affairs of the school, by the blazingly angry students, titled “Letter of Request” the students have itemized a 21 points immediate demand from the rector which vanguard learnt, 20 of the demands have been approved before the atrocious crises escalated, ostensibly, due to delay in their fulfillments.
