NSE: Market capitalisation rises by N26b

Lagos – Weekly transactions  on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended on a good note on Friday with market capitalisation appreciating by N26 billion.

The market capitalisation of listed equities closed at N8.084 trillion from the N8.058 trillion recorded Thursday.

The All-Share Index appreciated by 0.32 per cent or 80.77 points to close at 25,300.46 from the opening index of 25,219.69.

At the close of trading, 294.69 million shares worth N1.98 billion were traded in 5,000 deals.

This was against the 287.90 million shares worth N2.31 billion exchanged in 6,261 deals on Thursday.

The Banking sub-sector maintained its dominance of other sub-sectors  with 126.30 million shares valued at N1.14 billion traded in 2,482 deals.

The Conglomerates sub-sector followed with 87.01 million shares valued at N180.63 million traded in 574 deals.

Shares of Transcorp boosted activities in  the sub-sector with 83.81 million shares worth N99.95 million traded in 416  deals.

JBerger recorded the highest price appreciation of N2.40 to close at N50.40 per share.

NBC rose by N1.76 to close at N36.99 per share while Unilever appreciated by one naira to close at N28 per share.

UAC-PROP led the price losers’ pack, dropping 79k to close at N16.01 per share.

Access Bank lost 30k to close at N8.30 per share while International Breweries fell by 25k to close at N5.23 per share. (NAN)
