BY GEORGE ONAH
Port Harcourt — The President of Nigerian Labour Congress Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar, has commended the educational policy of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, atressing that it  gives the impression of a focused leader and thrilling to those who love education.

He said: ”As a professional teacher, I can testify that the new schools built by the administration are a reflection of focused leadership. As a teacher I am highly impressed with this kind of school facilities provided by the Rivers State Government for its children.”

Omar, who was in Port Harcourt, weekend, and conducted round some projects of the administration added,“the quality of infrastructure provided by the present government is a healthy development”.

“I think this is something I will want to call on all state governors across the country to emulate, because with this kind of facilities in our public schools, the private institutions will be forced to compete for survival”, Omar said.

The NLC boss said he had visited some states and seen some secondary schools but were a distant cry from what obtains in Rivers State. Omar said he was invited by the Rivers chapter chairman of NLC to see what the state government had done and with this “I am not disappointed”.

He said Amaechi was committed to good governance and was pleasantly surprised at the provision of good quality services to the people of the state. Omar then gave kudos to the governor and wished him well as he begins the second term in office.
