Former Super Eagles defender, Emeka Ezeugo has insisted that Samson Siasia led Super Eagles must qualify for the CAF Africa Nations Cup else the team is a failure.
The Seoul ’88 Olympian said the Eagles should not use the Argentina friendly to prepare for the must win tie against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa next month as he expected the team to be prepared already.
“If they do not qualify for the Nations Cup, then that means they did not do well. They most qualify because they are expected to. I expect them to go to Ethiopia and pick a draw at least.
“The team have coped well since Siasia’s appointment but Argentina is a much better team than Nigeria. The Argentina game must not be used as preparation for the Ethiopia game as they should have been prepared before now. I am keen about it being a good game and I cannot wait for it to come,”said.
On the exclusion of Osaze Odemwingie from the team, he said “it does not mean that Nigeria’s team does not exit anymore as he is just one player. It is just an ego war between the two of them. I expected Siasia to play the big boss.
“If I was the coach, I would have still invited him but caution him in the private and not in the public as it is now. Siasia is the boss and he has taken his decision which he feels is good enough for him,” Ezeugo added.
