OBORO community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into confusion, following the death of a 30-year-old man identified as Dennis Gbenekeme.

A house belonging to one of the top politicians in the community was not spared in the crisis that erupted after the alleged gruesome murder of the youth as the house was set ablaze.

He was allegedly killed in a bloody scuffle over the sharing formula of money meant to woo voters and to douse political tension in the community.

Gbenekeme who was youth president of the community died as a result of a deep cut he allegedly had on his neck. According to a reliable source, the money was given to the community by one of the political parties to maintain peace in the community in the just concluded governorship and the House of Assembly election.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the money was received on the community’s behalf by one of its leaders who distributed it according to the number of quarters in the community.

Speaking further, the source said the sharing formula did not go down well with some of the youths of the community, adding that the deceased confronted the community leader for not recognising his position during the sharing.

Vanguard Metro gathered that the community leader allegedly ordered one of the community youths to descend on the deceased after a heated argument.

Relatives of the deceased allegedly mobilized and set ablaze the house of the community leader who fled the community with his family in the wake of the reprisal attack.
