Have you considered staying healthy for the rest of your life? Then, you must find your way back to the habit of eating healthy and right foods. It doesn’t matter if you are in the lower, middle or upper class because it costs not hing to live a healthy life.
However, some of the most ignored foods around you have so much nutrients than the most sought after ones.
Food like beans, soybeans, millet, pineapple, apple, vegetables, rice, garri, fish, carrots, sorghum amongst others do not necessary need much money to get them.
As expected, every stage in one’s life requires eating healthy. It is therefore important to note some of the foods that pose danger to human life and those that are healthy.
Dr. Abimbola Ajayi, Deputy Director, Lagos State Ministry of Health on Nutrition who was a guest at the media forum on Soy Nutrition -Health Benefits at Development Communication, Networks, while speaking on the Synopsis of Nigeria’s Nutritional Situation advocated the need for every family to ensure that they get their food as close to their natural state as possible.
Her words: “Foods like tomatoes, vegetables and other plant foods should be taken to consideration by those who are no longer growing or developing but need food to keep fit and stay healthy. While the growing ones can still eat both the animal and plant produces”.
Explaining the need for people to patronise plant produces, she said, “If we can cook what we have in the market, the raw food and combine them right, and ensure that we eat vegetable stew with other food daily, it is certain that people will stay healthy and wealthy.
“Ensure that you don’t let the pineapple and oranges go by you without having a slice. We must know that these produces are not expensive in the market place.
“Food like plantain (boli) and groundnut and a slice of pineapple is healthy to life. We should not go into pastry because eating well, eating right doesn’t cost money.
“Everybody should use money sensibly. What is needed is to get nutrition knowledge and combine the right food. Vegetable foods should be on an individual’s diet for healthy living. It gives more nutrients, vitamins and minerals and as one is getting older, it is expected that one inculcates it in his or her feeding habit.
“Soybeans is generally amongst the nutrients that are vegetables base. Many at times young adults and elderly need to eat lots of vegetable, protein and vegetable food and not animal food. The elder you get, the less of the animal products that you should be consuming.
