SAPELE -The spate of political violence continues unabated, yesterday, in Delta State, following the kidnap of  Pa Joseph Odebala, the octogenarian father of former state House of Assembly member representing Sapele Local Government Area, Mr Ejaife Odebala, from his country-home in Sapele, by armed men.

Odebala, who confirmed the kidnap of his father to Vanguard on phone, however, declined to say whether ransom had been demanded by the kidnappers. He said he learnt about the incident while he was on a journey and that he just returned and was trying to establish contact with the kidnappers.

A member of the Odebala family, who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity, said the kidnap of their father was not unconnected with politics as Odebala was warming up for a legal tussle with suspected election riggers in the state. Odebala failed in his bid to re-represent the constituency in the April 26, election.
