LAGOS-In a rare show of guts, two suspected robbers,Tuesday, allegedly broke into and stole N3 million from a vehicle parked at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
The vehicle was a Nissan Infinity model Jeep.
A similar incident occurred sometimes last year, when a gang of armed robbers invaded the secretariat close to the same spot where the robbers burgled a Toyota Avensis car and carted away N1million in the process.
As at press time, the car with Lagos registration number FK670EKY belonging to a contractor (name withheld) with the Lagos State Ministry of Rural Development, was still parked at the premises of the ministry.
The victim, who had gone to see one of the directors in the Ministry of Rural Development, was stunned on how the robbers could have broken the side glass of the vehicle where the money was kept and same removed without any one around, including the security men, noticing them.
She declined to make comments when approached by newsmen. Her driver, who had gone for a stroll, it was gathered was also in shock, when he came back to find the car buggled.
A security officer from the ministry, said,“the driver of the car was not supposed to park here, since he knew that such money was inside the car.”
men who successfully carried out the operation without any casualty, beat the heavy presence of Rapid Response Squad, RRS who has its secretariat not too far from the scene of the incident.
The commissioner for Rural Development, Prince Lanre Balogun who was also in shock of was seen making frantic calls to alert the Nigerian Police on the incident.
