The Confederation of African Football ( CAF ) has released the list of officials that will handle the decisive last matches of the Confederation Cup that will qualify eight teams to the lucrative group stages.
Sunshine Stars of Akure who have “benefitted” from a one match confrontation with Al Ittihad of Libya will see their match played in Ijebu Ode on June 12 with Ivorien referees in charge while Al Hadj Jawula of Ghana has been appointed Match Commissioner.
According to Article 5 paragraph 15 of the regulations of the Confederation Cup only one match will be played by Ittihad given the war state of their country. Al Ittihad suffered the same fate when they confronted Enyimba of Aba in the last match of the CAF Champion’s league.
Kaduna United on the other hand are not so lucky as they have drawn yet another tough opposition in Entente Setif of Algeria.
Kaduna United will travel out to Setif for the first match on May 28 and the encounter will be refereed by Benaceur Kacem of Tunisia assisted by compatriots Ben Kamel, Hmila Amour and Kordi Mohammed while Ndoye Mbaye of Senegal is Match Commissioner.
For the return leg in Kaduna on June 12, Ghanaaian referee Lamptey Joseph will lead Salifu Malick, Agyin David and Bomison Hamidu with Mbombo Njoya Seidu of Cameroun as Match Commissioner.
Nigerian referees have also been appointed.
The quartet of Wokomma Solomon, Barau Auwalu, Baba Abel and Amao Opeyemi are in charge of the first leg confrontation that will see the winner of the tie involving WAC of Morocco and Simba of Tanzania against DCMP of RD Congo with Faisal Merghani El Hakim of Sudan as Match Commissioner.
