Be good ambassadors, FOC charges graduating officers

UGHELLI — THE Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral Adeyinka Akinwale, has charged graduating Officers Application Course 10 and Special Duty Post Commissioning Training Course 5, of Nigerian Naval Engineering College, Ogorode-Sapele, Delta State, to  be good ambassadors of the college.

Akinwale, who spoke during the graduation ceremony of the college, charged the graduating officers to bring to bear, the skills and experiences gathered in the course of training in the discharge of their duties.

The Naval chief, who was the special guest of honour, urged the graduands to ensure that their impact was felt in the system, adding that their input in the service will encourage the Naval authorities to maintain the tempo of funding the college for greater achievements.

He said the Naval authority was aware of the high standard of discipline and morale maintained by the trainees and staff of the college, urging the graduating officers not to disappoint the college by ensuring that the college does not derail from its excellent for its certificate.

Speaking further, he said: “The issue of independent manpower and upgrading/replacement of training equipment are key among the challenges” being faced by the college.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commandant of the College, Commodore Ekwe said the graduation ceremony was the culmination of one year Naval Engineer Officers training.

According to him, the college was mandated by headquarters to train officers and ratings to meet the technical manpower requirements of the Nigerian Navy.
