*No plan to thwart committee’s work-Akala
BY OLA AJAYI
IBADAN-GOVERNOR-elect of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has accused the out-going Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala of frustrating the effort of a 30-man transition committee he set up to pave way for smooth transfer of leadership baton come May 29.
He said, in a statement by his Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Yanju Adegbite, that Governor Akala had not responded to a letter that would facilitate the meeting of the two transition committees.
“My transition committee’s work is being frustrated by Governor Akala’s failure to respond to my letter after several fruitless attempts to reach him”, he said.
The two committees on the transition process, according to Ajimobi, have not been able to meet after a week because members of the government’s committee insisted that they needed the instruction of the government to meet the transition committee of the governor-elect.
Responding to the accusation, Governor Akala, through his Special Adviser on Public Communication, Prince Dotun Oyelade said Ajimobi should not attach any dark motive to the tardiness on his part to respond.
He said, he “received the letter containing the governor-elect’s list mid-week and acted on it promptly. However, with the change of baton and the swearing-in of a new head of service on Wednesday, there is understandably a slight delay since the new HOS is the chairman of government’s transition committee. I assure that there is no plan to thwart the transition and no motive should be read into the issue. The joint meeting will hold on Monday”.
