After World Cup ticket, AYC trophy’s our next target – Obuh

By Philips Adefioye

Flying Eagles chief coach, John Obuh says a winner will  emerge after 90 minutes between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Obuh hinted that  his first mission was to win a World Cup ticket for Nigeria, which he has accomplished and another thing was to take a giant step to win the tournament. “We have been long in this preparation, we are now into competition proper and we are meeting Cameroon again at the final of the AYC  after meeting each other at the group stage.

“The wish of Nigerians is actually to go and qualify for the FIFA World Youth championship in Colombia and as well win the cup and that is what we are going for. We have taken the first step by qualifying the country.

The team’s goalkeeper, Paul Danjuma says their defeat to Lionceux of Cameroon in the group stage will not repeat itself when they file out against them  today.

Danjuma said qualifying for the final of this year’s Africa Youth Championship was an exciting thing and the second defeat from Cameroon will not reoccur today.

“It is an exciting thing first to be among the countries that will represent the African continent at the World Cup in Colombia, secondly qualifying for the final of the AYC is another joy and our target is to win the trophy.

“We are focused and will not allow our loss to Cameroon in the group stage to affect us. It is a past issue and I am saying that the defeat will not repeat itself,” Danjuma said.
