Port Harcourt-As the nation swears-in new leaders at the federal and state levels, the Niger Delta Youth Congress has stressed the need to investigate the origin and source of funding of the Boko Haram group, which has become a menace in some Northern states.
According to the NDYC, the Yusifiyya Sect, which operates as Boko Haram, had done “too much harm in the Northern parts of Nigeria to be ignored or simply classified as a common group of criminals, who are seeking recognition.”
President of the NDYC, Amb. Donatus Ebisin, in a statement, yesterday, said the Boko Haram sect may be connected to the Al-Queada network, with an aim to destabilise Nigeria and may have been used in the recent post election violence.
“The Boko Haram group operates like the Al-Queada sect, which targets security outfits, mostly police stations and policemen,” he said.
