The Ekiti State Command of the State Security Service, SSS, yesterday, invited 92 politicians across the parties for a meting ahead of today’s election.
The meeting was to seek the co-operation of the politicians in maintaining the trade during and after the elections.
Each of those invited was made to sign an undertaking to steer clear of violence.
A security service in Ado Ekiti said: “Some of them have turned up and we have been meeting with them. They were invited as part of our resolve to ensure that elections are free, fair, credible and free of violence in the state.
“We have to get it right in Ekiti State this time around. We are working to ensure peace and stability in the state. We don’t care who wins the elections because we don’t belong to any political party. We
want everybody to assist security agencies to ensure that we get it right in this state this time and not next year.”
Meanwhile, another source said that policemen, soldiers and operatives of the SSS have been combing various spots in the state with the aim of dislodging hoodlums from their hideouts.
“The Police, soldiers and the SSS officials have taken the battle to the den of thugs to flush them out. The operations have been successful because many of those who could have been used to cause breach of the peace during the poll were flushed out of the state.”
