Prelate commends Jonathan on presidential elections

The Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, the Most Rev. Emele Mba Uka has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan on his success at the polls as announced by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

In a congratulatory statement, the Prelate described President Jonat-han’s victory as a signpost for positive change and a consolidation of the democratic practice in Nigeria. He said the election was the most credible, free and fair in the Nigerian political landscape.

Prof. Uka also commended Prof Jega for the excellent conduct of the election and praised Nigerians for the discipline and patience they exercised in the voting exercise.  “This Presidential election in which Dr. Goodluck Jonathan received majority votes in most geopolitical zones of the country,” the Prelate said, “has amply demonstrated the general acceptance of the President by the Nigerian populace.

This is a positive indication that the future of this nation will be bright under Goodluck Jonathan who is God’s choice for Nigeria at the present time.” The Prelate condemned the spate of violence that greeted the announcement of the Presidential election results in parts of the North and described this as senseless, utterly uncalled for and unpatriotic.

He said the action of such detractors was unfortunate as it was obvious that God was at work in using Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in restoring peace, justice, fair play and progress in a country that has been ravaged for decades by corrupt, inept and demonic leadership.
