Policeman remanded in prison for alleged killing


 AKURE -An Akure Chief Magistrate Court, yesterday, ordered that a police corporal, Gbenga Fawoyi, be remanded in prison custody for allegedly killing his girlfriend.

Fawoyi was said to have killed the lady, simply identified as Chibuzor, while on duty at Eti-Ose boundary in Akoko Southeast local government area of Ondo state on Sunday, April 10.

Chief Magistrate A A. T. Oyedele, at the resumption of hearing  of the matter, ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison till May 26.

The prosecutor, Amos Ifedayo had applied for adjournment and that the accused person be remanded in prison pending the arrival of legal advice.

Ifedayo told the Court that the file case on the matter had already been sent to the ministry of justice for legal advice on the case.

The accused defense counsel, Kobolu Atima, who did not object to the allegation, however noted that the case file should have been duplicated to ensure quick disposition of justice.

Chief magistrate Oyedele thereafter adjourned hearing on the matter to May 26 and ordered that Fawoyi be remanded in prison custody.
