The national leadership of the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has resolved that its candidates should gladly accept defeat wherever they lost in the ongoing elections in order to accelerate the growth of the nation’s democracy.
National Secretary of the party, Alh Abubakar Kawu Baraje who spoke in an interview with journalists Saturday in Ilorin at his Baboko ward after voting also said that there will not be a re-run in the ongoing presidential election, stressing that it’s a mere wishful thinking by the opposition parties.
He noted that the party has greatly campaigned across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria far more than any political party, so it deserved to win, adding that where the candidate failed to win the, party has trained its candidates to accept defeat as democrats.
“PDP is a disciplined party that is interested in moving the country forward, so if you lost, you must accept defeat, we have trained our candidates about that. If we copy USA, we must copy it to the letter that is what operates there” he added.
Baraje also urged the oppositions parties not to heat the polity by accepting defeat gallantly, and stop looking for excuses for losing an election, and kept mute where they won.
