NASS polls: FG closes border, restricts movement

ABUJA-Ahead of rescheduled National Assembly taking place tomorrow, the Federal Government has ordered the closure of all land borders and restriction of vehicular movement to ensure free and fair election.

The closure will commence from 12 noon on Friday, 8th  April, 2011 to 6.00 a.m. on Sunday, 10th April, 2011.  This is to ensure a peaceful and hitch free conduct of the  National Assembly elections taking place tomorrow.

Minister of Interior, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho, who stated this yesterday, in a statement by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ozigis, said the vehicular movements have been restricted nationwide from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on the election day.

Only INEC vehicles, security operatives specially assigned for election duties as well as those on essential and emergency duties, would be allowed to move about.
