THE Delta State Police Command, Wednesday, said that about 18 persons were arrested during the just concluded National Assembly polls across the state for various electoral offences, ranging from ballot papers snatching, multiple thumb-printing, thuggery, among others with intent to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections.
Similarly, Vanguard gathered that a police Corporal and a Youth Corps member were arrested at Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area of the state during the National Assembly polls and taken first to the Zone 5, Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, before being transferred to Asaba Police Command for further investigations.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Charles Muka made the disclosure in a telephone chat with Vanguard. He gave a breakdown of the arrested persons to include five in Ogunu community in Warri South, two in Koko in Warri North, one at Oleh in Isoko South all in Delta South senatorial district. One was arressted in Aladja in Delta Central senatorial district while the remaining nine were arrested at Delta North senatorial districr.
Muka, however, declined comment on the alleged arrest of a police Corporal at Koko but the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, House of Representatives aspirant for the Warri Federal constituency, Mr. Sunny Mene, whose report led to the arrest of the policeman, and others, told Vanguard that they are now with the police at Asaba, without the Electoral Officer whose is under investigation.
