By Samuel Oyadongha
The leadership of the Ijaw National Congress, INC, and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP,Tuesday, expressed concern over the rising cases of violent protests in the Northern parts of the country over the alleged irregularities in the presidential poll. They said such protests were staged managed and a plot to instigate a military coup.

While the CNPP in Bayelsa State through its chairman, Mr Sunday Frank-Oputu called on those involved in the violent protest to desist and seek better ways of resolving their grievances, the leadership of  INC, through Chief Joshua Benamiasia, alleged that those involved in the protests were acting out a script to provoke military intervention.

INC in a statement by its Acting President, Chief  Benamaisia, said, “our attention has been drawn to the spate of violence currently engulfing some northern parts of the country under the guise of people protesting the election results.

“The elections conducted so far by the Jonathan administration have been adjudge by international as well as local observers as the freest and fairest ever conducted in this country.

“We hereby warns those instigating the violence and/or calling for military intervention to immediately desist as they will be held responsible for the loss of innocent lives and property.

“We would not condone the derailment of our new found free and fair electoral process, thereby subverting our democracy or anything that will divide our country along ethnic or religious lines.

“We, therefore, call on the Federal Government and all security agencies to arise to their responsibilities and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book,” he added.
