Players of the national women’s team, Super Falcons arrived in Windhoek on Thursday evening calm and collected despite some travel hassles that began at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
Officials of the South African Airways in Lagos had surprisingly insisted that the team would not fly out as players and officials did not have South African transit visa.
This stunned officials of the Nigeria Football Federation who would not be cowed by such a suggestion, and prompt contacts at diplomatic level and a firm stand that this should not be the case eventually paid off as the South African Airways officials re_opened the counter and recalled the delegation members
from their hotel for the trip.
In Johannesburg, the Nigerian girls had to wait several hours at the Oliver Tambo International Airport before connecting a flight to Windhoek on Thursday evening.
“We’re not ruffled in any way. Our focus is the match coming up on Saturday against the Namibians”, said Head Coach, Eucharia Uche.
