While Gen. Adetunji Olurin [rtd], the PDP governorship candidate, came second with 188,698 votes, his Peoples Party of Nigeria [PPN] counterpart, Mr Gboyega Isiaka, scored 137,051 votes to place third.

Amosun, while speaking with newsmen at the INEC premises in Abeokuta, dedicated his victory to God and the people of Ogun, saying there was no victor and no vanquished.

The governor-elect promised to run an all-inclusive government and turn the fortune of the state around.

He disclosed that his PDP counterpart, Olurin as well as Gov. Gbenga Daniel had both congratulated him on his victory, saying this was an indication that the state had dedicated and democratically-enlightened people.

Amosun, who ran for the same post in 2007 under the platform of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) but lost to the outgoing governor, said he had put the experience behind him.
He said that INEC had used his declaration now to right the wrong it allegedly perpetrated during the 2007 election.
