ACN, PDP trade blames in Ekiti

ADO EKITI – BARELY 24 hours to the National Assembly elections, both the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State have accused each other of plans to foment trouble during the election.

Speaking with newsmen at the party secretariat  in Ado  Ekiti, yesterday, Ekiti State ACN chairman, Chief Jide Awe, accused the leadership of the PDP of  not campaigning in any part of the state, saying PDP had  a hidden agenda to rig the election.

His words: “For the past  30 days, we visited different parts of the state campaigning, but we were unable to see our colleagues in PDP doing the same, if it  were to be one of the lesser parties like the APGA, ANPP or CPC, this would not have worried  us.

But for the party that controls the Federal Government, which has the police, SSS and INEC under its control, it then becomes matter of concern  for us in the party.”

However, the PDP at a different press briefing, accused the ACN of importing thugs into the state.

Chairman of the party, Mr. Bola Olu-Ojo said the PDP was aware that the ACN leaders have been importing thugs into the state in the last few days. Olu-Ojo said the importation of thugs had led to the destruction of lives and property in Omuo, Emure and Aramoko Ekiti.
