ACN not serious- Imo PDP boss

By Chidi Nkwopara
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State has described the allegation from Action Congress of Nigeria that it wants to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election as “baseless, diversionary, unchristian and most uncharitable”.

The State PDP Chairman, Chief Eze Duruiheoma (SAN), made the position of his party known while reacting to the allegation that PDP had perfected plans to rig the remaining elections in the state.

“Some elections had already been held in the state. ACN did not make any gain in that outing. What magic are they going to perform to change the tide now? By leveling the allegation, they are only trying to hold on to something for their failure at the polls”, Duruiheoma said.

He wondered how ACN thinks the present arrangement will favour rigging, adding that “all the registered political parties jostling for the people’s mandate, will post their representatives in all the voting and collating centres”.

Duruiheoma urged ACN loyalists and their leaders to think of selling their candidates to the electorate and not to raise unnecessary dust where there is none.

“The opposition has stopped at nothing to heat up the polity. They have tried thuggery and violence. They have equally tried to denigrate both the office and person of Governor Ikedi Ohakim. This is not how to play politics”, Duruiheoma said.
