 By JIMITOTA ONOYUME

PORT HARCOURT – GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Rivers State, Dr Abiye Sekibo has promised to run a government that will be intolerant to corruption. Sekibo who spoke, yesterday, during the flag off of his campaign, said he will be accountable to the people of the state.

The former Transport Minister, who fired some jibes at Governor Rotimi Amaechi of the state,  said when he comes on board as governor, he will better the lots of the people.

He said some political appointees in the state were living beyond their means, an act he labelled as indices of corruption. Sekibo promised to run a transparent government in the state.

Meantime, when contacted on phone for reaction, acting Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Blessing Wikina, said as usual, the onus of proof lies on the one who makes claim.  Dismissing the allegation that some political appointees in the state were corrupt,  Wikina said it was not enough to make wide claims but such should be proved.

He noted that the ACN governorship candidate left as Minister of Transport under what could pass as unpalatable circumstance.
