IBADAN-TWO men yesterday died in an auto crash that occurred on the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway when a lorry loaded with yam tubers skidded-off the road and crashed. Also, three other passengers in the lorry sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to one of the survivors, it was the sudden burst of two front tyres of the lorry with number plate KEBBI 261 ZUR that made it lose control and emptied its content on the two men who were said to be sitting on the yam tubers before the accident occurred.
The accident which reportedly happened around 6am yesterday resulted in traffic snarl as many vehicles on the expressway could not pass.
Narrating her experience to newsmen, the survivor said, “we set off from Abuja at about 3.00 a.m. but when we got here (Iyana Agbowo) at about 6.00. a.m, two front tyres of the lorry burst and the vehicle skidded-off the road to the other side and later fell on its side”.
