UGHELLI- SEVEN man robbery gang, yesterday, stormed the Oleh branch of the Unity Bank of Nigeria, Plc, injuring the private security on guard.
Vanguard reliably gathered that the seven -man gang, including a lady, arrived the bank premises at about 12 noon and carted away undisclosed sums money, unchallenged.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the armed robbery gang stormed the bank in a red mazda and a black camry, shooting sporadically into the air, apparently to scare people away. It added that the bank’s private security was hit by bullet.
The source further said that customers, who were at the bank, were not spared by the armed bandits. It was gathered that banks in the neighbourhood closed down for business for some hours on getting the news of the attack on the bank.
Efforts to reach the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the Oleh police division, proved abortive at press time. However, a senior police officer attached to the division, said the police was already on the trail of the robbery suspects.
The police source, who pleaded anonymity, assured that the police will bring the culprits to book.
