Jos – A Pastor, Henry King, 41, yesterday, appeared before a Kasuwar-Nama Upper Area Court, Jos, for allegedly intimidating his neighbour, Mr Ebele Okoyi.
According to the Police information filed in the court, King, who resides at Busa-Buji Street, Jos, on March 2, at about 1 p.m., came to the Laranto Police Station to lodge a complaint of intimidation.
The information stated that the pastor reported that Okoyi had been intimidating him, as he (Okoyi) told him at about 7 a.m. on the same date, that he was going to “deal” with him.
It further said that during police investigation, it was discovered that the pastor, who was the complainant, was the one intimidating Okoyi by praying to God for his (Okoyi’s) death.
“King, while praying on the fateful day, was mentioning the name of Mr Okoyi that he was going to die in seven days time,” the information added.
Prosecuting Police Officer, Gokwat Ibrahim told the court that the pastor had committed an offence contrary to Section 397 of the Penal Code.
When he was arraigned in court, the pastor pleaded not guilty to the charge and prayed the court to grant him bail.
The trial judge, Mr Mustapha Hassan granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 with a reasonable surety and adjourned the case to April 29 for further hearing.
