The president of Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David. O. Oyedepo, has commissioned Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, which, he said, is set to run with a clearly defined vision in spearheading an agrarian revolution through teaching, research and entrepreneurial drive.
The university kick started with three colleges namely: College of Agricultural Sciences, College of Science and Engineering and College of Business and Social Sciences.
He recalled that the journey that led to what was on ground , culminating in the official opening and dedication of the university, started with the acquisition of a piece of land in 1986 which was envisioned for a hospital. It is this that has been expanded to the 1,400 acres of landed property which the university sits on today.
The vision of Landmark University, according to him, is a vision for the rebirth, national transformation and rejuvenation of our education values.
“We are here to contribute phenomenally to the process of restoration of the dignity of our nation, Landmark University is here as a demonstration of a credible platform for practical exploits in assuring food security in Africa”, he said.
The University, he noted also hopes to address the problem of low enrolment in agriculture disciplines by giving generous scholarship to deserving agriculture students of the University, ensuring the rise of an army of agricultural entrepreneurs, and ensuing sustainable commitment to agriculture endeavours by our graduates.
