AWKA – ANAMBRA State government has flagged off the reconstruction of the 12 kilometer Enugwu-Agidi-Nawgwu-Ukwulu-Achalla road, awarded for N1.2 billion.
The project, which is being executed by an indigenous construction company, Benejaf Construction Company, has a completion period of 30 months.
Governor Peter Obi, while flagging off the project, said the contractor had been fully mobilized. He urged the contractor to carry out the work according to specification and on schedule.
The governor noted that when completed, the road would help to open up food producing communities in the area to contribute to achieving the vision of food security for the country.
The traditional Prime Minister of Ukwulu, Chief Peter Uyanwa, who said his people were elated at the project, observed that the governor had succeeded in restoring confidence in government after decades of neglect by successive administrations.
