Nigerian activist, Ofehe released

 By Emma Amaize

WARRI-FOUNDER of the Hope for Niger-Delta Campaign, HNDC, based in The Netherlands, Mr. Sunny Ofehe, who was arrested by the Dutch police, February 22, has been released, two  weeks after being in detention.

Ofehe, a  Niger-Delta activist in Europe, confirmed his release to Vanguard when contacted,  but gave no further details.

The police in The Netherlands  confirmed on March 7, 24 hours before his released,  that he was arrested in connection with “people smuggling” (human trafficking), an allegation activists who know Ofehe back in Nigeria, laughed-off.

It was not known whether there was any condition attached to his release. A Nigerian activist said  Ofehe would want to consult with his lawyers before deciding on the next line of action.
