Abuja – A suspect, Ekweribe Damian, allegedly arrested by the police with one AK 47 rifle and 48 live ammunitions, was, yesterday, ordered to be remanded in prison custody by an Abuja magistrate court, pending when a formal application in respect of his bail is brought before the court.
Damian, 29, arrested on December 2, 2010 at Garki Area 3, Abuja, with firearm and the ammunitions.
The police arraigned the accused on a four-count-charge of unlawful possession of prohibited firearm and ammunitions, criminal conspiracy, threat to injure public servants, and assault on public servants, contrary to Sections 27(i), A(i), 27 B(ii) of Firearms Act CAP F28, 2004, Sections 97,153 and 267 of the Penal Code.
The police prosecutor, Chief Superintendent Boniface Asoqwa, informed the court that the accused and others now at large, were caught with an AK 47 rifle with number 351188 and 48 live ammunition.
