Jos: Three arrested with bomb making equipment

Jos -The Special Task Force, STF, maintaining security in Plateau State has arrested three people for being in possession of bomb making equipment days after foiled bomb attempts in parts of the state.

Parading the suspects to newsmen, Tuesday, STF spokesman, Captain Charles Ekeocha said the main suspect said to own the equipment is on the run but his younger brother and two others were arrested after the task force raided their house in Liberty Boulevard (popularly called Millionaires’ Quarters) where the equipment were found.

He explained that men on the task force had stopped some people on a motor bike carrying a nylon bag and upon searching the bag found dynamites and other explosives in it. He said the suspects later mentioned one Frank Anyor as the owner of the items.

Ekeocha said the STF obtained a court order to search the house after which assorted explosives and bomb making equipment were found adding that Frank the chief suspect bolted but his younger brother Terdor was arrested. He said the landlord of the house had also been arrested for questioning even though he does not reside there.

He listed the recovered items to include, detonating cords, 33 electric detonators, PH meter to monitor temperature, a brief case containing PH meters, a handy lab and conical flask, two Titronic machines, Electrode, ERSA (Test tube), a small brief case containing injection-like tubes for bomb-making and pamphlet containing instructions on bomb-making.

Other items recovered are a HAMEG counter for timing, four axis oster, two extension wires, two battery chargers, Imasol cleaning oil for cleaning of telescope, measuring wheel for lamp cord, a carton of dynamite, Theodolite, safety fuse and 27 detonators.

He commended residents of the area for giving useful information to the task force on the activities going on in the house. The suspects paraded are Dantala Babawo, Christopher Peter the commercial motor cycle rider conveying him when he was arrested and Terdor, the younger brother to Frank the main suspect.
