Jonathan sends 2010 appropriation virement proposal for Senate approval

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan has sent the 2010 appropriation virement proposal to the Senate for approval.

The president’s letter was read by Senate President David Mark on the floor of the legislative chamber on Wednesday.

According to the letter, the virement is sought to augment the shortfalls in the completion of rehabilitation and repair of power plants as well as identified shortfalls in some key parastatal agencies in the aviation sector.

“I hereby forward the attached additional virement proposal,” the letter said, but did not give details of the amount being sought by the president.

Jonathan also sent a letter to the Senate asking it to confirm the nomination of Prof. Isa Mohammed as a member of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to represent Bauchi State.

He said Mohammed was expected to fill the vacant position in the RMAFC following the resignation of the former member representing the state.
