I was never arrested – Nollywood Actress Hilda Dokubo

By George Onah
Port Harcourt – Following the bomb scare at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Wednesday, Nollywood Actress Hilda Dokubo has angrily rejected newspaper reports that she was arrested, insisting that she could not have been arrested and was never arrested.

The actress had boarded a plane at the Port Harcourt International Airport on her way to Lagos on Wednesday when she suddenly received a phone call telling her to disembark from the plane, that a bomb had been planted in the aircraft.

Dokubo told Vanguard in Port Harcourt, yesterday, that she reported the matter to airport authorities over the phone call and the information as well as discreet search led to the arrest of the caller at a hotel in Abuja.

“Does that amount to an arrest. You have done great disservice to my reputation and I insist you correct what you have written.

I received a phone call while I had just boarded the plane and the guy said get out of that aircraft now! And I said who are you and why should I do that. He mentioned his name and I said, excuse me, what did you say your name was.

He mentioned his name again and said I have just been informed that you have just boarded that flight and the boys cannot do what they have to do because you are on that flight because they said they cannot see me go down.

At that point I told him that there are children on this flight and you cannot destroy the lives of this innocent children just like that and he shouted get out, get out, get out and all that”.

After the trading of words with the anonymous caller, Hilda said the phone was handed over to the station manager and the caller requested the station manager to give the phone to the pilot. However, the station manager declined the request, telling him that it was not part of their practice.

But threats and more threats and the mention of the vice chairman of Arik Air was to the effect that “at that point the station manager had no choice but to go with the phone to the pilot”.

“I asked myself why people want to shed the blood of innocent ones. I must inform you that I did not know who the caller was, I did not know how the caller new that I was on board that aircraft, I was totally confused, in fact, so many things went through my mind”.

She said the arrested man had “been talking to security agents since then” and that her moving with security and airport authoriies so that the man could be tracked should not mean that she had been arrested.
