Gunmen kill 1, abduct 3 in Ebonyi

ABAKALIKI – AS insecurity worsens in Ebonyi State, three Development Centre coordinators were reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in the early hours of yesterday at the headquarters of Edda local government area of the state.

The incident left one person dead, even as the hoodlums shot sporadically into the air to make way for their escape.

Vanguard gathered that the person shot, as he attempted to escape from the kidnappers,  was the driver to one of the coordinators.

Those abducted included Cornelius Oji Uzor for Edda East, Okechukwu Ama for Edda West and Igwe Orji of Afikpo South Development Centre.

As at the time of this report, details of the kidnap remained sketchy.

Confirming  the incident, Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP John Eluu Ukie, said the Police had commenced full investigations into the kidnap saga.

It would be recalled that a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was kidnapped in his residence in Afikpo South local government area of the state on the eve of the party’s National Assembly primaries in January.
