LAGOS – Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, has said that as long as the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, remains in power in Lagos, the state will not be a victim to white elephant projects, adding there will be no abandoned projects in the state.
This came even as Arewa community in the state, weekend, endorsed Governor Fashola for a second term, citing the report of the assessment and evaluation committee on party gubernatorial candidates. Fashola, who spoke at the Angus Memorial High School, Shomolu, venue of the ACN rally in continuation of his campaign for a second term in office, said unlike the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, controlled Federal Government, which has posted a whooping 750 abandoned projects across the country in the last 12 years, no ACN controlled government will abandon any project it initiated.
“We have proved to you, in the last 12 years, that we are a party to be trusted. When we make promises, we keep them and we are telling you again that we will never burden you with any abandoned projects as long as you keep us in power,” Fashola said.
Pointing out that the venue of the rally was one of the promises, which his administration made and kept to Shomolu Local Government Area, Fashola said “we have mapped out 14 roads in our 2011 budget for Shomolu and its environs. We have also rehabilitated three streets and completed six drainages in this community in the last four years.”
Speaking on behalf of the Arewa Community in the state, the chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Kabiru, said that they had no other option than to endorse Governor Fashola after receiving the report of Alhaji Musa Saleh-led committee on assessment and evaluation of the entire gubernatorial candidates vying for the post in the April polls in the state.
