Ex-militant cautions FG over non-inclusion in amnesty programme

By Emma Arubi

WARRI – AGAINST the background of recent threat by MEND of possible resurgence of militant action, former militant leader “General” Alex Amasomo, has warned the Federal Government against alleged continued discrimination against him and some other generals in the implementation of the amnesty programme.

He said that it was capable of sending wrong signals and threatening the amnesty programme.

He also commended the Federal Government for appointing Chief Kingsley Kuku as the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, but expressed worry that since they submitted their arms, himself and some key generals have not been fully integrated into the amnesty programme for no just cause.

“It is in our best interest that all pending amnesty and post amnesty cases be addressed quickly. We wish to call on Chief  Kuku to attend to all the generals crying foul currently, as the state of affairs can jeopardize the whole process and send wrong signal to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
