As the Nigeria Premier league is set to resume from her two weeks break, Dolphin FC of Port Harcourt hope to maintain its squad for the second half of the season.
Disclosing this to Inside Out Premier League, Dolphin media Officer China Acheru said the reason they want to maintain the state of the squad is because of the decency in the team following their impressive performance in the first half of the season.
He however disclosed that one or two players may join the club in the second half of the season.
“Dolphin are not ready to beef up the team because we already have a decent team and that shows that the players are sound.
But, that not withstanding, we are hoping to add one or two players, Obinna David a, defencesive mid-fielder from Zamfara, he joined us at the beginning of the season but we are yet to clear him due to club transfer and other things that have prevented his transfer. But they have promised us that he will be released for the second half of the season,” Acheru said.
On how Dolphin rate the league in terms of officiating in the first half of the league, Acheru said: “The club is happy with the way officiating went in the first half and we hope it will continue in the second half.
“The first half of the league was okay. Though we have had lots of complaints concerning poor officiating, I must confess it was a bit fair in the first half compared to what it was last season .
The referees have comported themselves because a lot people are watching them. The referees are doing very well and can still do better in the second half. The problem with our football is officiating and it is not just the referees only.
If we must blame referees that are greedy, we must also blame club officials who tempt the referees with money. Also blame should go to the NPL who are powerless to stop it. The fans who threaten the referees to blew in favour of their clubs are not left out. One person can not be responsible for poor officiating, it is a general thing, if we can solve the problem of officiating, the league will be better than what it is now,” he said.
