Confed Cup: Ajani wants to shoot Sunshine into reckoning

By Ime Bassey
Sunshine Stars and Nigerian Premier League top scorer, Ibrahim Ajani has disclosed his intentions of scoring goals that will make the difference in the continent as they launch their continental campaign.

The Dream Team V invitee made this known to Inside Out Premier League after his team defeated Bukola Babes 1-0 in Ijebu-Ode.

“I do not want to be the highest goal scorer alone in the league but also to get goals that will put Sunshine Stars in the group stage of the Confederations Cup and God willing, into the knock out stage of the competition. I have set mind to score 20 goals this season and will use it as a force in pushing myself to train hard.

“I feel great scoring my 10th goal of the season as I look forward to the game against Tiko United of Cameroon on Sunday. I am working hard to put myself in the best possible shape for the game. I pray I score in the match. I do not have a target for the Confederations Cup but just want to score goals on the African scene,” Ajani said.

Heart of Owerri FC of Owerri have expressed satisfaction  with the running of the league in the first half of the season.

According to club’s protocol Officer, Tonnex Chukwu, said that the league in the first place was violence free due to  a proper handling on the side of  both the NFF and NPL, alongside good officiating from the referees.

“So far the league has been properly organized especially on the aspect of officiating, there has been remarkable improvement in officiating. I want to say that the management of Heartland are satisfied with the officiating.

Whatever mistake that we saw, should be  mistakes of the head not of the heart. Though they are meant to happen especially human errors, because referees are human beings. I want to say the referees have done well and they have improved lately compared to what it was before. If you look at the issue of violence that was recorded highly last season, I want to say it has reduced drastically. And I hope it continues like that.

Sincerely Nigerians are beginning to embrace a non-violence approach. We also see that the league is still growing and will get to its peak some day.
