Between Ned Nwoko and his opponent

AS the political scenario in the country gears up towards ensuring the election of credible candidates into various political positions, Delta State like  other  states and the electorate, including the candidates are on daily basis engaged with putting finishing touches to ensure excellent result of their aspirations.

Among these team of political office seekers include two major contenders into the Delta North senatorial seat of the National Assembly.

While one of the contenders, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, an Ika-born indigene and former Secretary to the Delta State Government under the administration of the incumbent governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and contesting on the  platform of the PDP is seen by many as a government-sponsored candidate and being imposed on the people and who to their opinion if elected, would only take directives from his godfathers.

Majority of the people see the other contender for the position, Prince Ned Nwoko as having an edge over Okowa as a result of his out-spokenness and    commitment  over the years  towards total liberation of the people of Anioma from the clutches of bad governance.

Delta North senatorial seat is not for a mediocre, therefore, anybody to occupy the position must have a catalogue of unprecedented antecedents and evidence of his contributions to the socio-economic development of the area.

Prince Ned Nwoko, no doubt meets with these track-records that qualifies him to seek the mandate to represent his people of Anioma nation, hence the clarion call on lovers of democracy to come out en masse and cast their votes for the Pineapple which is the symbol of the DPP logo, Prince Ned Nwoko for the Delta North Senatorial seat.

As the electorate go to elect a candidate of their choice, it is the view of every Nigerian to see the need for a very decisive conclusion towards ensuring that only the rightful and credible person is elected, while total condemnation is made on imposition of an unpopular candidate who will be answerable only to his godfathers instead of the wishes of the people he is meant to serve.

In the Delta North senatorial race like in other senatorial districts of the state, the antecedents as well as the overwhelming support by various groups, the Hausa/Yoruba ethnic groups  the Ohaneze Ndigbo and traditional rulers across Anioma nation to one of the foremost contenders of the seat, Prince Ned Nwoko is a  proof  of his acceptance as the man with the torchlight to lead Anioma people to the promised land — their long desired ‘Anioma State’.

The name Ned Nwoko over the years has a clear identity through his aspirations for Anioma, hence he is seen today as the only symbol of recognition of the ideas of the entire Anioma indigenes at home and in the Diaspora.

The gravity and overwhelming crowd that has greeted the campaign train of this unassuming  lover and true son of Anioma, Prince Nwoko, is no doubt as a result of his dedication of his entire life to the cause to better the conditions of every indigene of the Delta North senatorial district.

It is on record and for all who care that Prince Nwoko, as a member, House of Representatives, moved so many motions and saw to the  passage of bills, including the minimum wage bills, the bill that led to the continuation by the Federal Government of the abandoned Benin/Asaba Expressway road project.

He is the first and only known legislator who donated his furniture allowance throughout his serving years to the award of scholarships to many Delta North students in higher institutions within and outside the country.

In fact, his track records speak volume of his quality representation. An international legal luminary who has made a mark in  politics, law industry, also served and owned law firms in London.

It is not surprising that every true Deltan worth his salt, would want to identify with this great philanthropist whose villa in his Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North remains open, 24 hours as a Mecca of sorts  to both young and old, while food of all types is dished out to every visitor to the villa.

That is why the long yearning of Anioma people in the battle for Anioma state creation can only materialize through electing a fearless, thought- provoking and listening person like Prince Ned Nwoko.

It is pertinent to state here that Prince Ned Nwoko has an exemplary and amiable character of leadership worthy of emulation hence in the political/social virtures he is being described as  a rare philanthropist of our time.
