Akoko Edo PDP calls for redeployment of INEC official

By SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN – AHEAD the forthcoming  general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, has faulted the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to post the current Electoral Officer in Akoko Edo to another area,  saying that the party had lost confidence in him due to how he handled the two state House of Assembly rerun elections held in the area, recently.

Urging the people of the area to ensure that they vote en mass for Col.Tunde Akogun (rtd), the leader of the House of Representatives, so as to consolidate on his achievements in the area, the party in a statement  by Ajakaiye Olu, said that the area may be plunged into a bloodshed if the Electoral Officer was not removed before the election.

The party said, “we see the EO as great threat to the PDP and our democracy because of the way and manner he conducted the two re-run elections in Akoko Edo constituencies. Even when he knew that the elections were flawed with irregularities, perpetrated by the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, members, he still went on to announce the results.

“The general election is just two weeks away and the council cannot allow  a single man cause problem in the council,” the party added.
