Establishment of refinery in Bayelsa will boost devt – Minister

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke has assured the people of Bayelsa State that the plan by the Federal Government to establish one of its three proposed refineries in the state would help boost the development of the state.

The Petroleum Minister who spoke in Yenagoa during the Peoples Democratic Party presidentially rally also disclosed plan to create over 300,000 jobs for the teeming unemployed Nigerian youths by the Federal Government to help reduce unemployment and combat crime rate in the society.

Aside the planned establishment of the three petroleum and petrol-chemical refineries in the country Mrs. Alison-Madueke said the federal government had concluded plan to build two fertilizer plants in the country to boost fertilizer production for farmers.

The minister who called on Nigerians to support the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan in the April polls described the latter as a principled leader stressing that his nine months in office has brought socio-economic transformation, improved power generation, availability of petroleum products across the country.

Alison Madueke said the volume of crude oil production has increased from one million barrel per day to 2.6 million barrels since the federal government tackles the militancy in the Niger Delta communities.

According to her, the price of kerosene and other petroleum products would be reduced to enable the ordinary citizens’ access to the products.

The minister assured the Niger Delta youths of the preparedness of President Goodluck Jonathan administration to alleviate poverty and impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.

She called on Nigerians to rally round President Jonathan/Sambo and ensure they emerge victorious in the April polls.
