A group of youths, under the auspices of Progressive Vanguards in Ogun State, has raised alarm over alleged clandestine move by the leadership of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state to remove the name of Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka, a former deputy governor to Segun Oshoba between 1999-2003, as the Ogun East Senatorial seat candidate and replace it with that of the incumbent Senator in the forth coming elections.
The group in a press statement entitled Political Leaders or Political Dealers, yesterday, threatened that any attempt to subvert the collective will of the Ogun East would not only spell doom but would also meet with stiff resistence.
The statement by the group’s spokesman, Biodun Ajayi, frowned at the reaction that trailed the party’s primaries, wondering why some of the leaders and individuals in Ogun East were bent on wishing away the anticipated victory of the party in the area.
Fingering a chieftain of the party and other individuals as masterminds of the plot to replace Kaka, the group took a swipe on some of the leaders of the party, who it said ought to know that Alhaji Adegbenga “is a man loved by the people and who, over the years, has built an enviable reputation for himself and enjoys the goodwill of the grassroots.”
It is therefore disappointing to ask him to step down for the incumbent senator whose impact has never been felt by his constituency”.
Extolling the foresightedness and resilience virtues of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu as a true leader of the party, the group appealed that a reconciliation process should be initiated to bring all aggrieved members of the party in Ogun state together.
