Why Edo PDP failed to win re-run polls, by Ogbemudia

By SIMON EBEGBULEM
THE Dr Samuel Ogbemudia- led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, yesterday, attributed the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state to win all the re-run elections held in the state to the alleged hijack of the leadership of the party by decampees from the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP.

The group in a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Dr Francis Iyasere, alleged that the decampees were responsible for the protracted crisis in the state PDP, adding  that the party may continue to loose elections unless the leadership of the party was returned to the original owners.

The party, he said  decided to raise the alarm because of the “subterranean activities of harmful decampees from ANPP with the support of disloyal members of the party, who have assumed the leadership of the party through illegal means. The decampees were responsible for the unending crisis in the party, but we will not allow these strangers to destroy the dreams of the founding fathers of the party.

“These strangers as far as the party is concerned, have no stake as they will eventually leave the party as they did to their original party if we allow them to use illegal means to create subversive ideas in the PDP in Edo State,” he added.
