Suswam places security agents on alert

Benue State Governor, Dr. Gabriel Suswam has placed all security agencies in the state on red alert, warning that the state government would not tolerate any break down of law and violence, prelude to the forthcoming general elections.

Suswam declaredw that anyone caught to have breached the prevailing peace in the state would not be speared by the law,  irrespective of party or religious affiliation.

The Governor who spoke at the end of the weekly state Executive Council meeting, maintained that his administration would ensure that the state was violence free and that all aspirants in the forthcoming polls went about their campaigns without fear of intimidation or harassment from any quarter.

According to him, “we are determined to go about our campaigns with all civility and decorum and anything that would frustrate this resolve would definitely not be tolerated.”

“That is the more reason why I urge all PDP supporters to observe the highest level of restraints decorum and decency in the run off to the forthcoming general elections”.

Suswam further stressed that he would continue to insist that every aspirant irrespective of party affiliation is allowed a level playing ground to canvass for votes and support amongst the people of the state without any form of molestation.

The Governor who argued that the performance of the People Democratic Party PDP led government at the Federal and states has kept faith with the aspirations of the people across the country maintained that the party’s track record of performance has given the it an edge over others in the run off to the forthcoming elections.

He said” The PDP government led by Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is determined to bequest lasting legacies to Nigerians and that is why we call on all Nigerians to support the PDP led government in the daunting task of transforming the country”.

According to him, “there is no doubt that in the last three and half years we have done exceptionally well and our record of performance is there for everyone to see and make judgment therefrom”.

“We are determined to make progress and at the end of the day take our great country to another level of development”, Suswam added.
